Early Life

Kevin Hart was born on July 6, 1979 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Even though his mother was his sole breadwinner and support in life, thanks to her steady job as a system analyst at the University of Pennsylvania, his father was missing in action as he was addicted to cocaine and was jailed many times during Kevin Hart’s childhood. Kevin completed his high school education from George Washington High School and then decided to move to New York City to focus more on his career development in the comedy niche. Luck didn’t quite help him as he was unable to find any opportunities in New York City, which is why he decided to move again to Brockton, Massachusetts to save up enough to move to LA. There, he started working as a shoe salesman. He got his breakthrough in the world of comedy when he did his first stand-up comedy show in Philadelphia, and from that moment onwards— he hasn’t turned back.

His work stand-up comedy show was not well-received amongst the audience. In fact, he was booed down the stage and when he persisted, someone from the audience threw a chicken piece at him to shoo him off the stage. His initial comedy tours were named as ‘I’m a Grown Little Man’ and ‘Laugh at my Pain’ which was a humorous take on his sad and depressing childhood where he had to act as the man of the family as his father was absent and mother had to work full-time to support them and put food on the table. His hilarious approach to depression was appreciated and people could relate to it, so much that his shows were turned into featured movies later on.

He has worked as an actor in major hit movies such as The Five Year Plan, Little Frockers, Death at a Funeral and Think Like a Man. His acting career initially started when he gave a very trivial guest appearance in the movie ‘Undeclared’, but the audience liked his performance so much that he decided to diversify his comedy career into acting as well.

His last box office hit movies were Jumanji, The Upside and Night School. A sequel of Jumanji has released as Jumanji 2, which has already earned $52.5 million in box office within a few days.
